Our Story
How it all began
Aiver Sport is a Finnish equestrian apparel brand, founded in July 2013 by Outi Martinez
while she was living in Scotland. During her time in Scotland, Outi Martinez retrained
former racehorses to make them safer and easier for amateur riders to handle after their
racing careers. This work created a clear need: riding breeches that would keep the rider
secure in the saddle even during sudden movements, while remaining comfortable to wear
all day. From this need, the 4D Super Grip breeches were developed. The model quickly
became highly popular and has now been on the market for over ten years.
Change of ownership
In 2021, Aiver Sport changed hands. Outi Taivainen had been a long-time customer of
Aiver Sport, wearing the breeches regularly in her everyday riding. The quality and
performance of the product convinced her, which later led to a conversation with the then-
owner. That conversation first opened up the opportunity to take over the Finnish market,
and shortly after, the chance arose to buy the entire company.
Today
Today, Aiver Sport is a Finnish family business. Outi Taivainen is running the company with
her two daughters, Tia Taivainen and Tea Taivainen.
Riding and horses have been Outi’s lifelong passion, part of her life since childhood. In her
younger years, she competed in show jumping, eventing, and dressage. This broad
experience across disciplines gave her first-hand understanding of what riders actually
need from their gear in different situations.
The company brings together decades of hands-on experience across multiple riding
disciplines with a deep understanding of what the sport demands from equipment. This
shows in how the product range is developed and how customers are served: every need
is handled individually, whether for an amateur or a professional.
What matters to us
We aim for the best possible riding experience – for amateurs and professionals alike, for riders who don’t settle for compromise. That’s why we never leave a customer to figure out the right size or fit on their own: we offer individual support, whether it’s a first pair of breeches or full competition gear. An excellent customer experience matters to us – it’s not a sales pitch.
Aiver Sport exists because someone needed breeches that would keep them in the
saddle. That’s still why we do what we do.
